fragment #2 of master degree project.

Site.
The space acts as both a whole and a collection of rooms. The plates create a setting for instinctive activities and take place at different scales. The structure creates spaces of privacy, but also provides open social interaction. The framework and rules of habitat are imposed on the spatial configuration. Instinct is removed by the memory of previous experiences.
Project.
A program is configured vertically, filling empty space with Sara’s image. Each function is separated by height rather then interior walls.
The interior space is divided by 10 individual floor plates. Their scale and height resemble furniture arrangements. Demanding a more active participation from it’s users and their social interactions.
The plates rest on the existing structural elements, enhancing tectonic details rather then taking attention away from them. Manipulated by the structural cage, these spatial additions react to an existing material context.
The new structure “grows” inside a confined space, based on a vertical gradient of privacy, where more private actions are clearly separated from the public. It spirals up and overlaps itself. Forced to reconfigure depending on a specific needs.
The spatial configuration and image of Sara can only exist in a specific time and space.
